Inform Systems, while Transforming Juvenile Justice: Data-Driven Solutions for Better Outcomes for Children
Date & Time
Wednesday, October 23, 2024, 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Description

This session delves into how data-driven insights powered by object centric process mining can transform Texas's juvenile justice system. The non-profit Evident Change and Celonis’ Academic Partner William & Mary analyzed data using process mining techniques. Thereby, the team uncovered critical gaps in how children are treated, especially those with overlapping interactions in mental health and justice systems. Preliminary findings highlight major issues in treatment accuracy wherein most children are administered a level of care which is below the original level assigned to them at some point and consequent detention spiral from untreated or under-treated underlying mental health conditions. The team showcases how these insights can drive policy changes, reduce unnecessary detentions, and improve mental health care for vulnerable children.
